The main functions of the Sector include:

• Conducting information skills training sessions for students and researchers
• Conducting EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, Citavi (bibliographic management software) training sessions
• Advice and support on academic writing, citation styles, and bibliography
• Preparing information digests on current trends in the development of Higher Education, Economics and Law   
• Advice and support on research projects, literature selection, and reviews
• Assisting researchers with the creation of research profiles and aiding deposit within Electronic Sumy State University Institutional Repository (eSSUIR)
• Assistance working with international databases Scopus, Web of Science, Library Catalogue and plagiarism checking systems Unichek, Strikeplagiarism
• Assistance searching, producing and sharing of the open educational resource
