SumDU Library conducts cultural and educational activities. The structural subdivisions of the Library constantly held literary and musical evenings; historical and legal hours; library competitions and contests; excursions; meetings with interesting people; master classes; exhibitions of paintings and photo exhibitions of professional artists and amateurs.
Library staff conduct tours:
➠ Museum of Historical and Local Lore Studies of SumDU. The museum exhibits were collected by teachers, students, and university staff. Different periods of Sumy region history are presented.
➠ Museum of the History of Money. The museum presents numerous documents, photographs, metal money (coins, souvenir bars), commemorative medals of the National Bank of Ukraine, a unique collection of bon, etc.
SumDU Library is engaged in project activities, develops its own teaching materials on information literacy and academic integrity, provides advice on academic writing, the correct design of links to information resources, the use of bibliographic managers.
Our Projects
In 2018 the SumDU Library initiated a project "Green Library", supported by the Goethe Institute, which promotes the sustainable development of regional communities by providing access to information materials; dissemination of open educational resources; demonstrating their own example of ecological lifestyle, waste sorting, and recycling.
In 2019, SumDU Library launched the project "Promotion of Reading", which helps to increase interest in books and reading, the formation of readers' preferences, popularization of the library fund for cultural, professional, and intellectual enrichment. The project consists of headings:
People who Inspire - tells about meetings with famous and talented people.
Books Blog - helps to choose interesting books for good mood, self-development, and leisure.
Give a Book - introduces users to the library's charity events.
Thematic Book Exhibitions - promotes library exhibitions dedicated to a specific topic or event.
Audiobooks - presents resources with sounded and digitally recorded works by various authors.
In 2019, SumDU Library launched the project "Financial Literacy" in order to increase the level of financial culture and financial awareness of citizens by disseminating information resources, as well as conducting interactive cognitive activities for schoolchildren and students.
In 2020, SumDU Library launched the project "Digital Education" and became the official hub of the National Project Educational online platform "Diia.Digital Education".
The project promotes the development of digital competencies of every citizen. Allows you to navigate in the information space and develop digital literacy skills. Today the library develops and distributes its own information materials on digital literacy. And in the reading rooms of the library, everyone can get free access to the site "Diia.Digital Education" and digital literacy training.
In 2020, the Library launched the project "SumDU on the pages of Wikipedia". The work of the project is to create and post materials about different areas of activity and personalities of the university to the free encyclopedia Wikipedia, in order to promote the achievements of the university.
